Nelli and NDIS

Nelli is a registered NDIS provider. If you or your child has an NDIS plan, you may be able to use your funding to purchase the Nelli Smart Hub and we're here to make that process as straightforward as possible.

Registered NDIS Provider

Nelli Co Pty Ltd, registered since 25 February 2025.

4 Registration Groups

Registered across four assistive technology support categories.

Purpose-built assistive technology

A closed system designed specifically for daily routines. Not a tablet, not a general smart device.

Could your NDIS funding cover Nelli?

NDIS funding is based on each participant's individual goals and plan. The NDIA does not pre-approve specific products and whether Nelli can be purchased using your NDIS funding depends on how goals are written and what supports are included in the plan.

That said, many Australian families have successfully used their NDIS funding to purchase Nelli, particularly where goals relate to:

  • Building independence in daily living activities
  • Establishing predictable routines and reducing reliance on verbal prompting
  • Improving task initiation, sequencing, and time awareness
  • Supporting emotional regulation around transitions
  • Developing executive functioning skills

Nelli is registered across four support categories, which means there are multiple potential funding pathways depending on the plan:

Registration groupSupport category
0103

Assistive products for personal care and safety

0112

Assistive equipment for recreation

0123

Assistive products for household tasks

0124

Communication and information equipment

We always recommend speaking with your plan manager, support coordinator, or therapist to confirm which category best fits your goals before submitting a claim.

Nelli is purpose-built assistive technology

This distinction matters, particularly when it comes to NDIS funding decisions.

Unlike tablets, smartphones, or general-purpose devices, the Nelli Smart Hub has no web browser, no app store, no social media, no streaming, and no gaming. It is a closed system with a single purpose: helping participants build routines, independence, and daily living skills through visual schedules, audio prompts, and a structured reward system.

This makes Nelli functionally different from a generic smart device. Plan managers and NDIA delegates assessing Nelli claims should refer to our Plan Manager Resources page, which includes a full product overview, AT comparison documentation, and registration group rationale.

Getting started with NDIS funding for Nelli

  1. Check your plan

Talk to your plan manager, support coordinator, or therapist to confirm Nelli aligns with your goals and which registration group is most appropriate.

  2. Request your invoice

Complete our simple invoice request form. Once submitted, we'll automatically generate your NDIS-compliant invoice and email it directly to you, along with a recommendation letter template to share with your therapist or OT.

  3. Submit your claim

How you submit depends on your plan management type. Plan-managed: forward the invoice and any supporting documents to your plan manager and they'll submit the claim on your behalf. Self-managed: submit the invoice directly through the myNDIS portal and wait for approval before making payment. Agency-managed: select "agency-managed" on the invoice request form and we'll submit the claim through the MyPlace portal on your behalf. A $44 administration fee applies.

  4. Nelli arrives

Once your claim is approved and payment is received, we'll process and dispatch your order and notify you by email. For agency-managed claims, please allow up to six weeks for the NDIA to process the invoice. This is outside our control, but we'll keep you updated every step of the way.
