Getting started with Nelli is oh so easy!
Setup — 7 simple steps
Find the perfect spot in your home — somewhere central where the whole family can see it. The heart of your home is ideal.
Plug Nelli in and follow the prompts to connect to WiFi.
Set up your login credentials, password and PIN code. You’ll be guided every step of the way.
Create a profile for each child. Each one gets their own customised avatar, jingle, and more — do this with them, they’ll love it!
Set up daily tasks personalised for your kids. Do this with them — their input makes all the difference. See below for more on task types and the star points system.
Set goals your kids will love working toward. Assign a star value to each reward and do this together — kids who help choose their rewards stay motivated longer. Recurring rewards like weekly pocket money work brilliantly too.
Nelli is ready to go. Watch your child’s confidence and motivation build each day as they earn stars and work toward their goals. This is the moment you’ve been waiting for.
Adjusting the volume: Unlock with your parental PIN and the volume icon will appear in the bottom right corner of the screen.
Understanding task types
⏱ Time-based tasks
Have a start time and a duration. Your child is prompted when it’s time to begin, and earns stars for finishing before the timer runs out — making it fun and building genuine focus.
🔔 Notification tasks
Have a start time but no set duration. Your child is prompted when it’s time, but can take as long as they need — great for tasks where flexibility matters.
✓ Checklist tasks
Ideal for more independent children. They manage their own to-do list and mark tasks complete themselves — no prompting sounds or reminders.
📌 Reminders
Just like notification tasks, but without star points. Perfect for casual prompts like “Don’t forget your library book!” or “Put the bins out!”
The star points system
Each task can be worth 0–3 stars depending on its importance or difficulty. Start simple — 1 or 2 stars for everyday tasks like making the bed or brushing teeth. Save 3 stars for bigger challenges like homework or practising an instrument. Children who can see progress stay motivated.
Setting up rewards
Use small and big rewards
Smaller rewards — like a lollipop or 10 minutes of extra screen time — should be reachable within a few days. Bigger rewards teach saving and delayed gratification. Both matter.
Start with achievable goals
If your child can’t see progress quickly, they may lose interest. Set early rewards they can earn fast, then gradually increase the challenge as confidence builds.
Try recurring rewards
Weekly pocket money is a great example — it gives your child a consistent goal and keeps motivation ticking along all week.
